Sub: - AIMTC withdraw their proposed Strike
Dear Sir,
As intimated earlier for the proposed strike from 20th January 2007. We are happy to announce that the Government is agreed to our demand to reduce the increase in Third Party Premium hike for the benefit of the Transport Industry.
A delegation of All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) led by Shri Gurinder Pal Singh, President-AIMTC consisting of Shri G R Shanmugappa, Vice President (SZ) and Managing Committee members Shri Gurmeet Singh, Shri Harish Sabharwal, Shri Satpal Nanda, Shri Gopal Naidu, Shri Deepak Sachdeva, Shri R Sugumar, and Shri Charan Singh Lohara had a series of meetings with Shri Vinod Rai, I.A.S, Secretary-Ministry of Finance and other officials on this matter. The Secretary gave a patient hearing to the problems of transporters and appealed to the transporters to call off their proposed countrywide strike from 20th January 2007.
On 18th January 2007, after a day long deliberations with the Government was agreed to consider on request to reduce the Third Party Premium hike by 80% from 150% as announced earlier. This is a positive step and we welcome the Government initiatives on resolving the problems of the transporters and the hardship of the common man, we call off the proposed strike of transporters from 20th January 2007 as our demands were met by the Government.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
(M. Murali)
Secretary General
